The goal was not just to design a website, but to create confidence at every click.
A UI/UX and front-end development case study on launching a Dubai startup marketplace, aligning branding, usability, and performance to drive seller adoption and buyer trust.
Project Overview
Coutique-style marketplaces live or die by trust, clarity, and emotional connection. This Dubai-based startup set out to sell antique and handcrafted products online to niche audiences, but as a new entrant it faced the classic early-stage challenge: how to look credible, scale-ready, and compelling from day one while serving both sellers and buyers with very different needs.
The Problem
The business needed to onboard independent sellers, showcase highly visual products, and convince cautious buyers to transact online—all without the brand recognition of established global platforms. Early concepts lacked cohesion, and there was no clear narrative explaining why this marketplace should exist or how it differentiated itself in a crowded e-commerce landscape.

Business Goals
- Establish a premium yet approachable brand for niche antique and handmade products
- Increase seller confidence and participation
- Simplify discovery and purchasing for first-time buyers
- Build a scalable front-end foundation for rapid category expansion
The Solution
I led the end-to-end UI/UX design and front-end development as a full-time web designer and developer within a multidisciplinary team. The solution began with a complete rebrand—logo, color system, typography, and marketing collateral—designed to signal craftsmanship, warmth, and trust. From there, the website experience was structured around storytelling and ease of use, balancing editorial inspiration with commercial clarity.
Key UX and development decisions included:
- Clear category-driven navigation to reduce cognitive load
- Visual-first product listings supported by transparent pricing and CTAs
- Dedicated seller-focused messaging to encourage onboarding
- Modular front-end components to support seasonal campaigns and rapid updates

Execution
From wireframes to responsive front-end implementation, the experience was optimized for performance and consistency across devices. Special attention was given to homepage storytelling, campaign-driven content blocks, and trust signals such as payment assurance and seller credibility.
Measurable Results
- Faster seller onboarding driven by clearer value propositions
- Improved product discoverability through structured navigation and visual hierarchy
- Strong early traffic engagement within the first weeks of launch
- A scalable UI system that supported new campaigns and categories without redesign

My Role
I worked as a full-time web designer and front-end developer on this startup project within a team of developers, owning branding, UI/UX design, marketing collateral, and front-end implementation.
Good UI turned browsing into belief, and belief into transactions.
Outcome
The final product positioned the startup as a credible, emotionally resonant marketplace tailored to niche buyers and sellers, aligning business goals with user needs while laying a strong foundation for growth in the UAE market.
